complete chicken coop guide by john whiteDescription: John White's chicken coop guides is a comprehensive set of designs, blueprints and instructions for building your own chicken coop. The designs are produced and drawn by a professional architect, John White. The kit is mainly focused on building your own chicken coop but It also includes a number of bonus products on chicken related topics to get newcomers started in keeping chickens once the coop is complete.

What’s inside: Chicken coop guides comes in pdf format and my download took a little over 12 minutes. Obviously, download times are dependant on connection speeds so this may be faster or slower for some. The kit is focused mainly on chicken coop designs and plans and there are seven different designs to choose from once you download.

All of the designs come with pre calculated cutting and materials lists on the drawing sheet.

Apart from the various design packages there are four bonuses in total in Chicken Coop Guides which cover general chicken keeping, chicken health, protection from predators and recipes for free range eggs.

Here are some screen shots from actual drawings included in the kit -

Opinion:  The plans are professionally drawn with the same CAD  (computer aided design) software used by professional architects so the quality and accuracy of the drawings is top notch. The schematic plans are detailed and precise but I also liked the fact that there is plenty of fully rendered (i.e photo like computer generated images) to complement the drawings which makes it easier to visualise the finished article. This also makes it easier to follow the plans overall for people who are not used to working from professional drawings so diy amateurs should find this helpful. I must admit I was a little concerned that being a professional architect, the author might have been inclined to use high tech language and references that amateur diy builders might find hard to understand but I found this not to be the case and the drawings and instructions were clearly explained. On the contrary, his professional background seems to have been put to good use particularly in working out the measurements and finer details of the designs. The cutting lists and measurements are also provided in both imperial and metric so whatever your preference for working in there is no need to do your own conversions as this has already been done for you.

Some of the main features of this particular package are:

  • Measurements in both imperial and metric format
  • Professional CAD drawings by a qualified architect
  • Full colour rendered images of the finished article
  • 7 Designs to choose from + 4 additional bonus products
  • 60 Day, money back guarantee

Verdict:  The real value in this package is in the designs and drawings. It is most definitely a package aimed at people who are looking specifically for ready to go chicken coop guides, designs and blueprints rather than a complete guide to keeping chickens. The additional products relating to chicken care should be viewed as bonus products but having said that they are informative and good quality and should be very useful to the newcomer. The featured designs appear to be practical and well thought out with both the chickens needs and the practical needs of the chicken keeper properly addressed. The range of designs also seems to allow for keeping chickens in a variety of different circumstances.

I found these drawings easy to follow and the cutting and materials lists accurate. I also liked the clarity of the explanatory notes on the design sheets and the photo rendered images were helpful where a diagram might otherwise be difficult to follow.
