Building a wind turbine is a project that’s
well within the grasp of anyone with even a rudimentary
knowledge of DIY. With parts easily and cheaply available
from outlets such as eBay it is now not only possible but
also feasible to build your own wind turbine and start
using it to reduce your home running costs and play your
part in protecting the environment to boot.
Wind power is fast becoming the favourite way to generate
electricity and heat water and it’s not only clean energy, once
the initial cost of setup is recouped it’s also
free.
Discover how you can save money by building
your own wind
turbine
Wind turbine generators are essentially just electrical motors,
which work in reverse.
Instead of using electricity to provide power (i.e. to drive a
machine) the motor is connected to turbine blades which, when
driven by the wind, turn the motor which in turn produces
electricity, essentially reversing the procedure for which they
were originally designed.
Wind turbines can be scaled to the appropriate size to suit
your requirements or even used in multiples of the same size.
Whether your needs are as simple as providing enough power to
charge a laptop or phone while your camping or reducing your
monthly utility bills by providing supplementary power to your
home, building a wind turbine could be the solution your
looking for.
If cost is an issue then don’t be put off, as I was writing
this I did a quick eBay search and found a suitable motor for
$50! And it’s not likely that you will need to spend any more
than that on any other single component required. So it’s easy
to see how it can be economically viable.
Once constructed, your homemade wind turbine can be positioned
to make best use of the prevailing wind and you can enjoy the
benefits of cleaner, greener but best of all Free energy for
many years to come.
But what if the wind doesn’t blow all the time? Just complement
your turbines by adding a DIY solar panel or two and you could
quickly be on your way to living a totally self sufficient
lifestyle.
You could of course decide to purchase a ready-made wind
turbine. These are readily available now from specialist
suppliers and installers but prices can be high often
prohibitive. You will also have to wait a lot longer to recover
the initial purchase cost of your turbine and so you wont be
able to look forward to free energy for quite some time after
installation.
Whatever option you choose, wind energy is the smart choice for
anyone interested in reducing their impact on the environment
and has the added bonus of saving you lot’s of money on your
energy costs.
There are many different ways to easily build a wind
turbine that suits your
needs.......
